1. Tell us a little bit about you - Where did your journey with yoga or Pilates begin — and what led you to it?
A friend of mine does Reformer Pilates and she would say I would love it , but I’ve never been the exercise and commitment to it , that was until I found Ritual. As I’m 50 and still working part time as a hairdresser, so standing on your feet for 12 hour days for the past 35years and going through Menopause ,I was feeling very stiff and sore they say resistance training is what you need
2. Do you remember your first class at Ritual? What were your hesitations (if any) before starting?
Yes my first class was with Jess and I was nervous and worried that not knowing what I was doing but she was amazing , she explained the machine to me and helped prompt along in class . So was hooked from then. And then I did a Yin class and omg that’s me done . Signed and sealed . And to be able to do a reformer class and a yin straight after , there’s nothing better
3. How do you feel after class — body, mind, breath?
I walk out of class feeling taller . My posture is better and I feel strong . The breath work really works
4. What’s the hardest part about getting to class — and how do you usually move past it?
What keeps me going to Ritual is I really love it . Besides my body, mind and breath feeling better I love all the teachers there . So that’s what keeps me motivated
5. What is the pace of your life like, how do you prioritise your time for class at Ritual?
It’s busy, I’m a wife and mum of 3 big sons ( little kids little problems big kids big problems) and that’s so true . Life is full on but I always book ahead and stick to it ! I do have my favourite classes so I don’t want to miss out
6. How has your practice changed you — in subtle or obvious ways?
Definitely changed my mind set and physically with breath work I don’t clench my jaw like I would before . And I’m definitely stronger
7. Is there a specific class, teacher, or moment at Ritual that’s stayed with you
Too many special moments and teachers to say
8. Do you have a personal ritual before or after practice — or something you'd like to start doing?
No I don’t as when I walk into Ritual it all re sets for me
9. What does “ritual” mean to you — in and beyond the studio?
A commitment that I love . I shout it from the roof tops .
10. What do you turn to outside of the studio to stay well, strong, or balanced?
My husband and friends . My circle is small just like I like it
11. If someone is feeling hesitant, unsure, or intimidated about coming in to practice at Ritual — what would you want them to know?
Just get there ! You will feel so much better mentally and physically for just showing up . The environment oozes support
12. Is there a life insight or piece of advice you’ve been given or experienced in your life — that stays with you?
Life is short
