Mermaid Beach Studio Closure

Last week we made the difficult decision to temporarily pause classes at our Mermaid Beach studio while we search for a new location.

The decision to close our Mermaid Beach studio while we find a new location comes after prolonged efforts to resolve ongoing issues with the building and lease-controlled infrastructure. While Mermaid is a beautiful and much-loved space, there are underlying issues that require work outside of our control to fix.

Despite our genuine and sustained efforts, the current situation no longer allow us to operate at the level of quality, consistency, and care that you all deserve. Maintaining that experience is our priority, and this decision reflects our commitment to doing things properly rather than compromising on what matters.

Over the last 2.5 years, we’ve taught thousands of classes, held workshops, trainings and silent meditation days . We watched our Mermaid location grow into thriving a community.

It’s frustrating as we stuck it out through some tough times, including the tram works, and it feels especially disappointing to step away now - but this is a big lesson in surrender.

Mermaid has been a deeply loved space, and this outcome is incredibly sad and unexpected. We want you to know that we exhausted  every possible option before making this decision.

All of our Mermaid members were made aware of last week and  we’re doing our best to work through high volume of questions we have coming through while  we’re actively working to find a new local home.
