Course Info

2 long weekends of in-person training + 6 months to complete

Attend 2 long weekends: Friday, Saturday and Sunday based in our studios on the Gold Coast

Dates:

Weekend 1: 27 February (Friday) – 1st March (Sunday)

Weekend 2: 6th March (Friday) - 8th March (Sunday)

No prerequisites are required for this Level 1 Pilates Matwork Instructor Course—we start from the basics! Prior Pilates experience is helpful but not essential

Course Requirements:

  • Attend the studio in-person over 6 days - 2 long weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)

  • Attend 50 Mat Pilates classes at Ritual

  • Observe 10 mat pilates classes at Ritual Studios

  • Complete and pass, all coursework and assignments

  • Ensuring you have completed online components of the teacher training

  • You will have six months after the contact days to complete all course elements

Our Pilates Mat Instructor Course is designed to meet you where you are—whether you're just starting out or looking to build on your experience. This course is the essential first step in our teacher training pathway and the foundation for continuing into Reformer training.Begin your path to becoming a certified Pilates instructor with our Pilates Mat Instructor Course, on the Gold Coast. This comprehensive training welcomes everyone—whether you’re new to Pilates or ready to elevate your passion to a professional level. Designed to start from the fundamentals, the program is accessible for all while offering depth and expertise for those with prior experience.

You’ll gain the skills and confidence to lead transformative Pilates classes and embrace lifelong physical well-being. The course is divided into three key components: immersive in-person contact days, completing 50x Ritual Pilates classes, and observing 10 classes with a senior instructor.

This course is the first course you will need to complete if you are planning to continue to do your reformer training at Ritual.

Sophie Spratt

Your lead instructor + pilates mum

Sophie is the co-founder of Ritual, a passionate Pilates educator, and a proud mum to three young boys. Around here, we lovingly call her our Pilates Mum—because she’s the heart of our training program: supportive, wise, and always there when you need her.

With over 15 years of personal practice and 10 years of teaching experience, Sophie brings more than 8,000 hours of hands-on instruction to her role as lead educator. She holds certifications from some of the world’s leading Pilates schools and a Bachelor in Biomedical Science, grounding her teaching in deep anatomical and physiological knowledge.

At Ritual, Sophie leads the Pilates Repertoire and the Anatomy & Physiology modules for our Pilates Teacher Training programs—bringing science to life in an accessible, embodied way.

Her teaching spans across classical Matwork, Reformer Pilates, contemporary Mat, and Barre, offering students a truly holistic understanding of the Pilates Method.
