Mikela’s Classes: Transformative • Intuitive • Devoted
YOGA
Mikela Meli
Mikela has been on the path of Yoga since 1998, first introduced to the practice at age 17 by Swami Sarasvati. From that very first class, she felt a deep and immediate connection - a knowing that Yoga would be a lifelong path of inquiry, devotion, and transformation.
After a vibrant career in the music industry, Mikela shifted focus in 2008, completing her first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training. The following year, she undertook a year-long apprenticeship in YTT and Applied Anatomy and Physiology of Yoga with Simon Borg-Olivier and Bianca Machliss of Yoga Synergy, continuing as a long-term student of their integrated approach to movement and breath.
Over the years, Mikela travelled regularly to India to study with master teacher Clive Sheridan, engaging in intensive retreats that included daily practices of up to 10 hours, weaving Tantra, Advaita Vedanta, periods of silence, and deep spiritual sadhana. Her journey has also taken her into solo study retreats in Portugal and Thailand, with a particular devotion to the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gītā.
Mikela is passionate about sharing the depth of these Vedic teachings. She has worked with everyone from complete beginners to seasoned practitioners, guiding group classes, private clients, immersive workshops, and retreats in Byron Bay and Koh Tao, Thailand. She’s also taught yoga as part of addiction recovery programs and worked with elite athletes.
In addition to being a yoga teacher, Mikela is a qualified counselling therapist. Her approach is grounded, intuitive, and informed by decades of inner work, particularly in the realms of transformation and shadow integration.
Mikela lives what she teaches. She believes that yoga, in its full form, is a profound system for self-inquiry and when practiced sincerely, it becomes a gateway to physical vitality, emotional resilience, and spiritual clarity.
