ॐ — A Sacred Practice Retreat
The Mudhouse Marayoor · Kerala, India · Western Ghats
Six days of yoga, pranayama, meditation & philosophy in the mist-wrapped hills of Maha Bharat
Enquire & Reserve Your PlaceNested in the ancient hills of Marayoor in Kerala's Western Ghats, this six-day immersion offers a rare opportunity to step fully into the river of yoga — not as exercise, but as a complete science of being.
Led by two Roses — teacher and student, mentor and devotee — this retreat holds the lineage lightly while transmitting it deeply. Each morning opens with asana and pranayama. Each afternoon deepens through meditation and philosophy. Each evening invites contemplation of why we came.
The mountains of Maha Bharat hold something ancient. Come to listen.
Daily morning practice drawing on Iyengar, Ashtanga and Integral traditions — precise, intelligent, deeply felt.
Classical breathwork to kindle the inner fire and refine the vehicle of awareness.
Vipassana, Raja and contemplative traditions woven into a daily rhythm of silence and inquiry.
Evening discourses exploring the living philosophy of yoga — Samkhya, Vedanta and the Tamil Siddha tradition.
Optional treatments and consultations with local Ayurvedic practitioners — oil massage, herbal therapies, and guidance in the world's oldest healing science.
Casual walks through spice gardens, sandalwood forests and the high estates of Marayoor. The landscape itself is a teacher.
Sacred company. Space to connect with like-minded souls — a rare and precious offering in the heart of Mother India.
Each day follows a gentle arc — building from stillness and breath into movement and inquiry, returning in the evening to reflection and rest. All sessions are guided; the pace honours both the serious practitioner and the sincere beginner.
This is not an ordinary teacher–teacher collaboration. It is the living transmission of a lineage — from mentor to student, across decades, across traditions, across continents.
Rose Baudin has studied and practised yoga since the late 1960s. She met her mentor Swami Gauribala Giri in Sri Lanka in 1971 and was initiated into the parampara of the Tamil Siddhas in 1984.
During the sixteen years she lived in India, Rose was instructed across the full spectrum of the tradition — Integral Yoga with Clive Sheridan, Iyengar Yoga with Ratanial Shah, Clé Souren and Shandor Remete, and Ashtanga Yoga in 1987 with Dena Kingsburg.
Her meditation lineage spans the breadth of the dharma: Vipassana under S.N. Goenka, Soto Zen under Zen Master Hogen-san Yamahata, Insight Meditation with Sayadaw U Janaka, Kalachakra with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and the teachings of Jiddu Krishnamurti.
Rose Lamont is a dedicated meditation and yoga practitioner whose teaching is rooted in Vipassana, Raja and Hatha Yoga. With over 10,000 hours of formal training and practice, she has committed her life to the techniques and philosophy of yoga.
Currently pursuing post-graduate studies in philosophy — focusing on comparative religion and panpsychism — Rose brings rare intellectual rigour alongside embodied transmission. Her teachers include Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, Donna Farhi, David Frawley, Dr. Robert Svoboda, Sally Kempton, Nevine Michaan and Abbie Galvin.
Rose co-founded Ritual studio in 2015. She facilitates international Yoga Teacher Trainings and specialised short courses in pranayama, meditation and Ayurveda.
Marayoor sits at altitude in the Anaimalai range of the Western Ghats — one of the few places in Kerala where you feel genuinely transported. It is ancient country: sandalwood forests, prehistoric dolmens, sugarcane fields, and the clean cool air of the high Ghats.
The Mudhouse is an extraordinary property — traditional Kerala architecture built in mud and stone, set within aromatic gardens, oriented toward silence and simplicity. A place that asks nothing of you except that you arrive.
"The mountains of Kerala have held sadhana for millennia. To practise here is to enter a field already prepared by countless seekers before you."— Rose Baudin
Places are intentionally limited to preserve the intimacy and depth of the experience. We warmly welcome sincere practitioners of all backgrounds.
