Where Your Focus Goes, Energy Flows with Lisa Jolly

  1. Tell us a little bit about you - what is your fav book?

I don’t really have a favourite book but I love reading. In terms of one of my favourite novels perhaps ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ and in terms of a self help book - one I’ve read lately and loved would be ‘Grandfather’ by Tom Brown Jr

  2. What quote do you live by?

No one quote but I do often speak to my clients around the topic of ‘where your focus goes energy flows’

  3. Where did your journey with yoga or Pilates begin — and what led you to it?

Yoga first - I was a 21 year old working long hours in a corporate job and found yoga at my local gym. It became a regular in my life from that point onwards to help manage the stress and demands of life

  4. Do you remember your first class at Ritual? What were your hesitations (if any) before starting?

I’d just moved to Palm Beach from Victoria and Ritual jad just opened. I gelt. comfortable at Ritual from the start

  5. How do you feel after class — body, mind, breath?

Always better for doing a yoga class. Mind + Body + Breath

  6. What’s the hardest part about getting to class — and how do you usually move past it?

I generally see it as a non-negotiable part of my weekly routine

  7. What is the pace of your life like, how do you prioritise your time for class at Ritual?

I run my own naturopathic clinic and have children so there’s always a lot on which makes yoga even more necessary

  8. How has your practice changed you — in subtle or obvious ways?

It helps keep my mind clear and takes me to a deeper understanding of life. A lot of yoga philosophy creeps into the courses and retreats I run too

  9. Is there a specific class, teacher, or moment at Ritual that’s stayed with you.

    Haha many personal experiences

  10. Do you have a personal ritual before or after practice — or something you'd like to start doing?

Not really. Just try and be in the moment whilst I’m in class

  11. What does “ritual” mean to you — in and beyond the studio?

    Regularity, preparation, consistency, presence

  12. What do you turn to outside of the studio to stay well, strong, or balanced?

Shop at farmers markets for fresh organic food, meditate, follow what inspires me and choose to create consciously in my life

  13. If someone is feeling hesitant, unsure, or intimidated about coming in to practice at Ritual — what would you want them to know?

It’s a very open and welcoming space where anyone is accepted

  14. Is there a life insight or piece of advice you’ve been given or experienced in your life — that stays with you?

Many. So hard to bring it to just one insight. Perhaps again another insight from my work and life - staying well mentally and physically takes constant effort and there is no magic pill. I think the aim of the game is to follow what lights you up.
